What Is Header Name?
Header Name is designed for people who need polished social headers without starting from a blank canvas or learning a full design application. It focuses on a short workflow: enter a name and tagline, select a template, check the platform layout, and download the result.
A single profile can contain a name, role or bio, username, website, avatar, preferred colors, font, and technology badges. Header Name then recomposes that information for the dimensions and layout constraints of each supported platform.
The project is local-first. Profile details and uploaded images are used by the browser-based generator rather than being sent to an application backend for rendering. Saved brand profiles are stored in the browser. If the optional GitHub import is used, public profile information is requested from GitHub.
How to Use Header Name
- Enter your profile: Add your name, role or short bio, username, website, and an optional avatar.
- Choose a template: Browse 48 templates grouped into Minimal, Editorial, Gradient, Bold, Soft, Dark, Creator, and Developer styles.
- Customize the design: Adjust colors and typography, add selected technology badges, or reuse a saved local brand profile.
- Select a platform: Preview X, LinkedIn, YouTube, or GitHub dimensions and use the safe-area overlay to check cropping and avatar overlap.
- Export the result: Download a PNG or SVG for the active platform, or create a ZIP containing matching banners for all four platforms.
You can begin directly in the online generator or review the template gallery first.
Supported Banner Sizes
Header Name currently generates these platform presets:
- X / Twitter: 1500 × 500 pixels
- LinkedIn profile banner: 1584 × 396 pixels
- YouTube channel art: 2560 × 1440 pixels
- GitHub profile banner: 1280 × 400 pixels
The generator includes platform mockups and safe-area guidance. This helps keep names and important details away from common avatar overlays and responsive crop zones.
Templates and Customization
The 48 templates are divided into eight visual categories. Minimal styles emphasize whitespace and clarity; Editorial styles use stronger typography; Gradient and Soft styles provide colorful backgrounds; Bold and Dark designs create higher contrast; Creator and Developer templates are tailored to online portfolios and technical profiles.
Users can customize template colors and fonts without building a layout from scratch. Developer-oriented banners can also include selected technology badges such as TypeScript, React, Python, Rust, Go, Docker, and other supported tools.
Export Options
Header Name supports three export workflows:
- PNG: A high-resolution image sized for the selected platform
- SVG: A standalone vector file for sharp text and graphics
- ZIP package: A matching set for X, LinkedIn, YouTube, and GitHub
Exports do not include a Header Name watermark. Before publishing, preview the file on the target platform because social networks may change their responsive cropping behavior over time.
Privacy and Local Storage
The generator does not require an account or an application database. Profile data, uploaded avatars, saved profiles, and customization preferences are kept in browser storage, while image and ZIP generation happen on the user's device.
Because saved profiles are browser-local, they are not automatically synchronized across devices. Clearing browser storage can also remove saved profiles, so important exported assets should be downloaded and backed up normally.
